U.S. Department of Justice Warns Public of COVID-19 Exploitation

The U.S. Department of Justice wants to make sure that the public is fully aware of possible COVID-19 scams. Criminals thrive on disasters, and the pandemic is no exception. Some of the scams include the following:

  • Blackmail attempts
  • Work from home scams
  • Investment scams
  • Unsolicited calls
  • Unsolicited emails

If you think you are a victim of a scam or attempted fraud involving COVID-19, you can report it without leaving your home by calling the Department of Justice’s National Center for Disaster Fraud Hotline at (866) 720-5721 or via email at disaster@leo.gov.
