The U.S. Department of Justice wants to make sure that the public is fully aware of possible COVID-19 scams. Criminals thrive on disasters, and the pandemic is no exception. Some of the scams include the following:
- Blackmail attempts
- Work from home scams
- Investment scams
- Unsolicited calls
- Unsolicited emails
If you think you are a victim of a scam or attempted fraud involving COVID-19, you can report it without leaving your home by calling the Department of Justice’s National Center for Disaster Fraud Hotline at (866) 720-5721 or via email at email@example.com.
